How to Submit Work Samples
At Clarity Consultants, we serve companies, such as Fortune 1000 firms, who often request to review work samples before considering a consultant for an assignment.
Follow these steps so your samples help you get the assignment you want.
- Send samples that are relevant to that particular assignment
If the job description asks for specific experience, send in samples that exemplify the experience required.
- Include background information in the cover email
When sending samples, provide details and state what the objective was for the sample. If proprietary information was removed from the sample, mention that it is a partial sample.
- Remove any company references embedded in your sample
For example, instead of "How to Sell More Products through eBay" change your work sample to say "How to Sell More Products through This Site."
- Remove all references to proprietary information
If the work sample includes mention of proprietary technology, products or strategy, that would be good kinds of information to delete from the sample -- or keep in the sample, but refer to it in a generic way. For example, instead of "Microsoft software suite includes these components" -- change it to "This software suite includes these components."
- Make sure the sample is in the proper format to be viewed
If the work sample is in a unique format, be sure to save it in a manner that can be viewed in a more universal format. On the internet, there are free sites to host files that will convert formats so that a file may be viewable to all regardless of format. To find a site that suits your needs for file hosting, search on "online document sharing."
- Use a file name that describes that kind of sample
For example, when sending a sample of elearning content development, name your file "your name--elearning sample"
